Facades & thermal insulation · Berlin & surroundings

Facades & Wall Insulation Berlin – an envelope that performs.

External wall insulation systems, facade renovation and redesign: we improve the energy efficiency and appearance of your property – durably and professionally.

What this is about

A facade is more than looks: it decides heating costs, building damage and property value. A properly planned external wall insulation system (EWI, in Germany 'WDVS') cuts energy consumption noticeably, protects the masonry from the weather and gives the building a new face – provided it is built up correctly.

CAVCON plans and installs EWI and renovates facades in Berlin and the surrounding region: from condition analysis through insulation, reinforcement and finishing render to the final coat. We stay within one manufacturer's system – components engineered to work together – rather than mixing materials, because that is the only way warranty and building physics hold up.

Whether a family house in Falkensee, an apartment building in Reinickendorf or a commercial property: we tell you honestly which insulation thickness and which system suit the building, the budget and the requirements of the German Building Energy Act (GEG).

Our standard

Building physics before looks: base junctions, fire barriers, window reveals and the anchor pattern decide how long an EWI system lasts. That is exactly where we are most thorough – and we document the workmanship for you.

Scope of services

Facade work: what we do.

External wall insulation (EWI/ETICS)

The complete build-up: substrate check, adhesive, insulation boards (EPS or mineral wool), anchoring, reinforcement layer, finishing render and coating.

Facade renovation

Cracks, spalling render, damp patches: we analyse the cause and repair durably instead of merely painting over.

Render & surface design

Mineral and synthetic finishing renders in various grain sizes and textures – matched to the building's style and surroundings.

Base & plinth insulation

The transition to the ground is the most critical zone of any facade – we build it splash-water-proof with suitable boards and waterproofing.

Window reveals & junctions

Reveals, sills, parapet and roof junctions: the detail points where insulation must stay airtight and free of thermal bridges.

Coatings & final finish

Vapour-permeable, weather-resistant coatings – with enhanced algae and fungal protection for exposed elevations on request.

Quality & workmanship

How an EWI system is built – layer by layer.

An external wall insulation system consists of five layers that must work together: adhesive mortar, insulation board, mechanical fixing (anchors), a reinforcement layer with embedded glass-fibre mesh, and the finishing render with coating. If one layer fails – a wrong anchor pattern, missing mesh at window corners – it shows up years later as cracking or spalling.

On insulation choice we advise neutrally: EPS is economical and proven; mineral wool scores on fire protection and acoustics. Thickness and detailing are matched to the requirements of the GEG and the existing wall. Before installation we test the substrate's load-bearing capacity – with existing render a matter of course that is skipped far too often.

Frequently asked questions

Questions & answers.

For uninsulated existing walls, external insulation is among the most effective single measures there is; savings of 20–30 % of heating energy are realistic depending on the building. What matters is professional, thermal-bridge-free execution – which is exactly what we are here for.

There is no universal 'better': EPS is cheaper and easier to work; mineral wool is non-combustible and better acoustically. We recommend the system based on building type, height, fire requirements and budget – and explain the trade-off transparently.

Often not, but there are exceptions – listed buildings, encroachment over boundaries, or local design statutes. We flag such points to you; the legal clarification is handled per project.

A single-family house typically takes three to six weeks including scaffolding, insulation, render and coating, depending on size and weather. Facade work is weather-dependent – we plan realistic windows rather than wishful deadlines.

Yes. If the wall performs adequately or insulation is not an option, we renovate render and coating conventionally – after a cause analysis, so cracks don't return within two years.
